Can affirmations be harmful?

I’ve heard it said that they can be. There was even a study. But the reason? The gap between the current reality and the affirmation was too big, creating feelings of lack and hopelessness.

The thing is though, affirmations aren’t the same as goals, and un-obtainable goals is ineffective goal setting.

Instead, an affirmation is about stepping into the feeling of who you are becoming.

They should be based on who you need to BE, not what you wish to HAVE.

Remember be, do, have:

First ask who you need to BE, then what that person needs to DO, then you will achieve what that person would HAVE.

Sometimes it’s not that you’re doing something wrong, but that you could do it better.
